A long, winding path recently led me back to Providence, RI, near my hometown of Swansea, MA, after living in 5 other states (for grad school in sociology, a post-doc in writing-across-the-curriculum, and a couple of visiting professorships). Prior to moving back to Rhode Island, I lived in Salem, MA for 7 years. In addition to editing, I teach occasional online sociology courses for the University of Maryland University College, where I am also the Faculty Advisor for the online Social Sciences Club for students.
Over the years, I have moved a lot and lost touch with many wonderful friends and colleagues in the process. Many people have found me through my website over the years -- please be in touch. I welcome any friends, colleagues, students, clients (past, present, and possible future) to connect with me on Facebook and/or LinkedIn.

I have been editing academic manuscripts since 1994, when I was working on a co-edited volume, Eating Agendas: Food and Nutrition as Social Problems, with Jeffery Sobal, a nutritional sociologist at Cornell University. Two other edited volumes followed, and my first single-authored book, Vegetarianism: Movement or Moment?, was published by Temple University Press in April 2002. I am also pretty sure that I have written the only article on tofu in a peer-reviewed sociology journal.
Yoga and vegetarianism have been an integral part of my life since the early 1980s. Music, too, has always been important to me, from community theatre in high school, to a stint in the Syracuse University Hendricks Chapel Choir in my late teens, to "alternative" rock bands later on. I am very fortunate to have two special feline companions, Sara and Olivia, who keep me company while I work.
